Sitting down to my computer this afternoon I inadvertently log into Facebook, as we all must do, typing “f,a, return” into Chrome’s address bar and am immediately opened to my online social world, without a thought even entering my head. Today it’s pretty boring. All just pictures of sloppy food and group shots of people I don’t know. That are all kind of dressed the same and have similar bone structure. I get it, yesterday was Thanksgiving and we all had a fun wonderful time reconnecting with people we rarely see anymore. Or at least we got to eat all we could possibly get down without our moms or sisters giving us the eyes this time. It’s a day of excess really. Both excessive feasting and excessive closeness. Emotion. Bonding. Or arguing. Fighting. Getting in each other’s business and judging everyone’s life choices. Excessive intimacy. Family Time. But whether we’re sitting around the table giving each other all hand massages or yelling at Karen for going Vegan we at least take the time to line up and snap a picture, maybe even arms around wives and husbands, or pulling in the new terrified boyfriends and girlfriends trying their best to keep it cool and get on Mom’s good side. You guys all look great, really. You’re doing well. Keep it up – beautiful families, nice smiles, I can see where you get it. And damn, you clean up well! You should try dressing like that in your daily life. That’s not a joke. People need to get their shit together. We’re adults now. Just ask your Dad, he knows.
